Research & Advocacy for Development
2009-2011
Law and Development Associates (LADA) and the Environment and Development Group in the United Kingdom, jointly undertook a project under the Protected Areas Development Programme funded by the European Union (EU). The project involved a feasibility study on sustainable financing options for conservation of protected areas, in which we worked closely with officials of the Forestry Commission to complete.
Under the project, an action plan was developed for the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission for raising substantial revenues for financing conservation in Ghana. The project report outlines a series of options for sustainable funding, classifies the options suitable for implementation at a regional or national scale, and classifies options for short, medium and long term implementation.
