About Us

BACKGROUND

Law and Development Associates (LADA) is a leading multidisciplinary consulting firm with a rich history dating back to 2006. Originally established as Atuguba and Associates (A&A) (then a law firm), LADA was carved out in 2012 to focus on providing comprehensive legal, development, and policy solutions.

Before its incorporation in 2012, LADA (the then A&A) executed several projects for various clients, national and international, including the UNDP, the World Bank, national governments and their agencies and several national and international NGOs. The then A&A, provided unique services for its clients in the area of research, consultative strategies, training, legislative reform, facilitation of regulatory processes, advocacy, and legal counselling and representation for mostly pro bono clients.

In addition to LADA, other affiliated companies were formed in 2012. They include LADA Innovation and Creativity, LADA Oil and Gas, and the LADA Institute (the not-for-profit wing).

While these companies were initially incorporated as a group, their diverse nature prevented the full realization of a unified legal objective. Nevertheless, each company saw significant growth and three of these are still operational after three strategic periods. They are Law and Development Associates (LADA), Atuguba and Associates, and the LADA Institute.

As a spin-off from a law firm, LADA benefits from a strong foundation in legal expertise. This heritage, coupled with our commitment to development and policy, allows us to offer a unique and effective approach to addressing complex development challenges.

After nearly two decades, Law and Development Associates (LADA) stands tall as a multi-disciplinary consultancy firm, offering a unique blend of legal expertise and development experience. The Firm has garnered a strong reputation within Ghana and the wider sub-region. This success stemmed from improved efficiency, impactful branding, and a dedication to continuous improvement through reflection and learning. The Firm strives to be the go-to institution for law and development consulting in the sub-region.

We have also built a pool of collaborative consultants, with different expertise that enables us to respond to variety of opportunities. Our clientele is made up of the government, individuals, corporate institutions and international organisations.

WHAT WE DO

Since 2012, Law and Development Associates (LADA) has engaged with clients at the local, national and sub-regional levels, in the areas of:

As a result of the firm’s multi-disciplinary nature, consultancy services span across several disciplines such as natural resource development, environmental governance, constitutional governance, decentralisation and local governance, legislative development, agriculture and fisheries, justice sector reform, access to and financing of healthcare, and rights-based approaches to development.

In each of these disciplines, LADA works to identify and rectify the missing gaps in four levels of normative orders namely; Policies (including constitution), Laws and Acts of Parliament, Regulations and Guidelines, as well as Manuals and Processes.

Through strategic partnerships, especially with governments and donor agencies, we develop and implement evidence-based solutions that address pressing challenges and drive meaningful impact. Our collaborative approach ensures that our efforts are targeted, effective, and sustainable, leading to lasting positive change.
