Review and Amendment of Children’s Act, Juvenile Justice Act, And Related Laws

LADA provided technical support to UNICEF and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP), Ghana, to review and propose amendments to the Children’s Act, 1998 (Act 560), Juvenile Justice Act, 2003(Act 653), the Criminal and other Offences Procedure Act, 1960 (Act 30), the Human Trafficking Act, 2005 (Act 694), as well as other laws that implicate children.

The processes for this assignment included holding consultations with relevant stakeholders who can identify legislative gaps in the laws; making definitive proposals for filling the identified gaps in the laws; aligning the various laws on children to proven global best practices, as well as various policies on children.
