Professor Raymond A. Atuguba has officially assumed office as Interim Director of the Ghana School of Law, popularly known as Makola.
This follows the end of Justice Nana Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong’s tenure on August 31, 2025.
Justice Oppong had served as Director of Legal Education and head of the School since April 1, 2022.
On his first day, Prof. Atuguba convened a maiden meeting with management and staff, where he outlined his vision for the institution. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the School’s capacity, consolidating its role as the nation’s foremost centre of legal training, and advancing its mission of producing world-class lawyers.
Prof. Atuguba pledged to build on the solid foundation established by his predecessor while introducing fresh initiatives to respond to evolving challenges in legal education. His agenda, he said, will prioritise innovation, inclusivity, and excellence in the training of legal professionals.
In a show of appreciation, staff and management commended Justice Oppong for his dedicated service and reform-driven leadership over the past three years, noting his contributions to institutional growth and modernization.
Prof. Atuguba, a renowned academic, constitutional law expert, and practitioner, is expected to bring new perspectives to the School’s administration and help chart a progressive path for legal education in Ghana.
